Another nice feature of this social platform is that you can add people to multiple circles. For example if you have someone who is a friend but also a work colleague, you can add them to both of those circles, ensuring that they can access information that you post for both groups. This is done by clicking the contact and dragging them to multiple circles.
Circles and Streams
Once you have grouped your contacts into appropriate circles, you can use your stream to determine which circles you want to receive information from. Facebook and Twitter can get a little overwhelming at times, due to the sheer amount of information appearing on the main stream, but Google+ allows you focus your attention to particular streams and with just a few clicks, limit the amount of information you pay attention to. (NOTE: Twitter comes a close 2nd with its "lists" feature).Your stream can be used to send out messages to people within any of your circles. Remember it's up to them whether or not they are listening to you. However, you can make a specific message target only the people you feel that it would appeal to. For example, sending out business updates to friends and family can be avoided by choosing only the ‘business' circle.
Circles and Hang outs
Recommended extra circles to create
Here's a list of some circles that you may wish to create:In-Laws: Family can be separated into 2 sections – immediate family, but there are also your in-laws to consider. You might not be as close with them, but are still family. By adding them to a specific circle, it's a fast and easy way to avoid family disputes down the line.
Close Friends: Sure you have lots of friends but some are your inner circle of friends.
Recently Connected: This is a good ‘catch all' contact list. It's the list of people who asked to connect with you but haven't really proved to be particularly useful yet. However, as a business, you should have the goal of getting as many contacts as possible. You never know, they could get moved to a better circle in the future.
Block List: This is where you put the people who you never want to hear from or have listening into your posts. It is a good place to put spammers and the social junk.
Google+ is still an emerging, extremely socially important platform and you should be making good use of it. In the mean time, take a look at some of the extremely nice profiles out there.
